The Federal Highway Administration, City of Tecumseh, and local Committees have been working diligently on plans to revitalize the Tecumseh Historic Square. The basic activities addressed in the project update include the estimated timeline for Bid Letting and construction, temporary Construction Easements and the changes involved in the revitalization plan. Business members will be contacted regarding these construction easements. Detours will be addressed and information will be published by the way of pre-construction meetings and public notices. The City purchased the building, materials were donated and volunteer labor is being utilized to refurbish this historical building on the square.
The Community Building improvements and the purchase of Historic Lighting around the square were made with a total of $283,000 in grant monies.
Seven downtown businesses have participated in the mini-grant matching program available for facade improvements on their buildings. Click here for the application.
Through a partnership with the Black Hills Energy, OPPD and Tecumseh Federal Bank, the City created a mini park in an empty lot near city hall on the square.
Through state funds and grants, the City has rehabilitated and/or demolished a total of 32 projects since 2009.
