The City of Tecumseh/Johnson County Public Transit serves the general public, including persons with disabilities, in all of Johnson County on a demand-responsive basis. We have one bus (12-passenger plus 2 wheelchair passengers) that is lift-equipped. Cities served include Tecumseh, Elk Creek, Vesta, Crab Orchard, Sterling, St. Mary and Cook. Please call 402-335-2030 to schedule a ride. Appointments are first come, first served so please call early to schedule your appointment.
*Covid-19 response – Masks are NOT currently required on public transportation or on the Handibus. We still do extra cleaning of the bus at this time to help prevent it from spreading.
Bus and administrative hours are:
Monday -Friday
7:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. & 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
(Closed all major holidays, inclement weather or when the bus is in the shop)
Monthly Trips:
First Monday of the Month - to Beatrice
Second Monday of the Month - to Lincoln
(If a holiday falls on one of these Mondays, the trip is moved to the following Monday.)
Rate Schedule: (Driver accepts cash/checks on bus or debit card at City Hall)
Elderly, Disabled and General Public (all fares are the same)
$1.00 per ride for City - $2 round trip ($1 each additional stop)
$2.00 per ride for County - $4 round trip ($1 each additional stop)
$15.00 per ride to Beatrice or Lincoln
Any person who believes they have been discriminated against on the basis of race, color, or national origin by City of Tecumseh/Johnson County Public Transit may file a complaint by completing and submitting the agency’s Title VI Complaint Form. Complaints must be submitted within 180 days following the alleged incident. Complaint form is below.
